Explanation of the aayaah:
وَأَمَّا
بِنِعْمَةِ رَبِّكَ فَحَدِّثْ
“And as for the bounties of your Lord, so talk about
them” [Surah ad Duha 93:11]
Allaah ordered the Prophet (sallaAllaahu alayhi wa sallam) to talk about
the bounties of Allaah. So he thanks Him verbally as he thanks Him by action. A
Muslim might use the following phrases when speaking about his bounties:
“We are in goodness (khair) and all praise is for Allaah” (Innanaa bi khair
“We have a lot of good (khair)” (indana
“We have many bounties” (indana
“We thank Allaah for that” (nashkurullaah
We don’t say “we’re weak”, “we don’t have anything”, No!!
He should thank Allaah and speak about his bounties and he will remain
upon the goodness that Allaah gave him. Don’t speak in a miserly way by saying
“we don’t have money, or clothes, or this or that” but he should speak about
Allaah’s bounties and thank his Lord, the Exalted.
And Allaah glorified is He, when He
bestows bounties on His slave, He likes to see its effect on him in his
clothes, his food and drink. So he shouldn’t appear like a poor person. Allaah
has given him an expanse of wealth. But don’t understand from this going to excessiveness
which leads to extremes (al ghuloo), being spend thrifty and wasteful.
